Long wheelbase = smaller breakover angle = stuck

I’ve thought about this. I know it would take quite a bit to get my car stuck. But man would it be stuck

The whole “breakover angle” thing kills... Ask me how I know

I never off road in 4wd until it’s absolutely necessary. More traction means more stuck!

What you need is a short wheelbase Land Rover based vehicle. Galvanised chassis, Land Rover engine and ancillaries, etc...

Such as a Foers Ibex.

2.4 diesel.

But land rovers are not designed to run in snow, only deserts and sheep farms in Wales.

I did the same thing with my old 91 Civic. Lucky I had a floor jack and a bunch o f 2x4s in my car. I lifted it up, put the boards under the back wheels and drove away.

Thank God my buddy had a bottle jack. We lifted the side, pushed the car off the jack, then repeated about ten times until it was clear. Nothing to put under the wheels (ground was frozen solid)

Oh man, this is awkward because nobody told them.

Ouch, they are going to be so red faced when you tell them.

Why a small unknown vehicle when you could just have a Defender that does the same exact thing

Fuck it! lets just leave it here until Summer!

It’s probably going to be worth more by then!

They’ve been around for a few years now. It’s a company in Hexham (along the road from me). They take a Defender, strip it down and put it on a galvanised chassis, uprate the mechanicals and components.

That and they don’t build Defenders any more.

So now Foers just buy the parts they need and add them to their own builds just as Bowler does and Supacat does for the Wildcat they bought the rights from Bowler to build.

In principle, the better the tool...the bigger the hole. And that’s before we adjust for the OCW (Operator Capacity Weighting).

All I see is a truck going through a couple inches of loose snow.

The 6 wheeler was more impressive before it got stuck.

9000lbs is not easy to move when stuck like that apparently. I am still shocked the snowcat didn’t just drag it around the mountain.

snow is a cruel and effective land anchor, which is why I don’t do a lot of snow wheeling.

Snow is one of my favorite things to wheel in. The Land Cruiser forum isn’t ih8mud for no reason. I imagine the snow they were traveling in was quite wet though which makes life worse. We used to do Snow Runs in the Sierra Nevadas all the time and the snow could get pretty bad, but with proper tire psi and some smarts you were good.
